“Without therapists, we are very unreliable narrators of our own stories.” - Russian Doll
Life is challenging and confusing. The experiences we have from the moment we are born until the moment we die create storylines about who we are; some of these stories we like, however, many of them we do not like and become the cause for pain, distress, and disconnection. My goal in therapy is to identify these storylines that have become naturally solidified over time; for example, I am not [fill in the blank] enough; I should be happier/more successful/less afraid; I am undeserving of [fill in the blank]; My way is the best way. Once we uncover these storylines, we can begin to explore, understand, and break them down.
In this way, we develop a deeper awareness of ourselves. With this discovery, you will begin to lean more into your own authenticity and move through the world with increased ease, confidence, and connection. Oscar Wilde says, “Be yourself, everyone else is already taken.”
